Strange Fruit

This is a piece of vocal music (Strange Fruit) interspersed with a poem by Art Mason, played on the piano by me.

It was an experiment of sorts, trying out equipment and seeing what we could do. We ended up with a really nice sounding track, so here it is for you to hear -

We actually performed this live a few days later, so maybe I’ll get a video of that up here.

I created this sound in Digital Performer that randomly swung around nearby pitches and randomly roamed around volume. It sounds how I might imagine ghosts sound.

Testing Out Drum Powers

This Sunday, I was messing around with Digital Performer and a pile of drum samples I made a few weeks ago in the Band Room in Balfour. I now have a realistic sounding drum machine on my hands from my own creation, and in a short while I could put together a nice-sounding (crazy) beat without having to lift a drum stick.
